Successful Medical Air Evacuation from Remote Region of Somalia

The patient suffered an acute neurological condition becoming critically ill, making commercial carrier a non-viable option.

We sourced the required medical information, commissioned an air ambulance flight to collect the patient from a rural and remote site in the Beledweyne region, Somalia, appointed local agents to help with the evacuation, and managed requirements for crossing borders. The patient, an Ethiopian national, was stabilised and transferred to Mogadishu and then on to Addis Ababa, where Assist360 ensured a level 3 medical facility was prepared and ready to receive him. We also ensured that the patient’s family were kept informed and able to meet him on arrival. In his home country, he was able to receive the appropriate specialised treatment required.
